"Rockefeller Camping" in a 36' Indiana made camper  at Raccoon Lake,  Indiana this weekend is my plan. Traveling with my senses wide open, looking for the old customs, the simple fixes and the before industrialization way of life in a small spot.  Natural beauty of the terrain would be a plus and seeing some covered bridges, my preference.  I am excited for the inspiration from the signage, the smells, the waters, the backwoods music.   

The menus are set, bug spray applied and the camper is hitched. Its almost  time to take off and travel happy down old U.S. 41. 

The Business of Chocolate and Money

Läderach chocolate was the highlight of my 48 hours in Zurich, Switzerland this past week.  After 10 years of absence in private banking, I stepped off  the elevator of the fourth floor to rooms named after money centers of the world.  This is Zurich, in its true sense.  A bank not on every corner, but a bank,  a bank and a bank... all in a row.  But it is the chocolate that has me travel happy senses wide open!

Freshness, artisanal, individuality and family are the values of Läderach.  mine too.

new travel to ancient country

Today, I will buy my first abaya.   I need one, as soon as I depart my flight from Istanbul to Jeddah.   I  look forward to sharing how my senses peak, as I travel, getting to know, life as they know it.

Feeling Big - helping mama do laundry

Remember that feeling?  I felt big, when I was 6.  My older brother and three sisters went to school and I stayed home with my mother. There wasn't a kindergarten class in my town, so I got quality time with my mother.  One on One. 

I helped with grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning the house and in the caring for my baby sister.  And I did so with glee, cuz I was BIG.

Feeling Big photo came as a surprise on a bus ride through the Wild Coast of  South Africa.   so take off- senses wide open and resist the lullaby of the bus.

It's quite natural to have a feeling of simple bliss. As a child, I experienced bliss. . . sitting on the porch and watching night fall.  The stillness in the air, the faint smell of green cooling in the fading light and sounds of the night creatures, signaled a time of the coming of dusk.

 Deconstructing the western life down to basic needs of bed for rest, walking to the market for food, creating  art as a way of making a living and hanging on to bare essentials,  gives me this same simple bliss.  

This photo symbolizes, this shift in me. . . taking a pause. I thank you,  people of Indonesia and Africa for showing  me back to  bliss.  take off - senses wide open.

The Royals, that's Rex and Regina, know how to travel in style.  They travel P.O.S.H., superior or deluxe.  HRH Rex prefers linen to broad cloth and down to feathers.  HRH Regina loves pashmina to angora and silk to rayon.  They take off with their senses wide open.  So travel happy,   like the royals.   Those of you  into HD as in high definition, here are some for you... Travel Solo

The painting of Isabella was sold in 2006 to a Chicago collector. And I get to keep it with me, thanks to a photo and digital painting in photoshop. with no mess! This brings to mind the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu. The gallery has the largest display of public art in New Zealand. This building is a remarkable landmark in Christchurch. Soon to come is a list of my favorite Art Galleries around the Globe.
